6 TESTS OF A COATED PLATE AT THE ROTATING DAMPING RIG The experimental work into ceramic damping coatings (prior to these results) has been restricted to static vibration rigs, and the need for a simple rotating test facility has been identified. This was used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the various damping technologies under conditions of high centrifugal forces acceleration and the associated steady stress field, and would also enable the integrity of the applications to be explored. The developed rig is used for the work described in this paper.
